I am not sure that SRE is working properly for me tonight. It seems as if my Sage machine won't stop recording the Raptors-Warriors game. The game went into OT and ended about 25 minutes late. My default padding is 30 min, safety net is on, max extension is 3 hours. Sage is insisting on recording WWE Smackdown which is the next show on ScoreHD but I have not set this to record!

Please paste in the logs from SRE. Start at the time the recording was scheduled to end up until the present.
ESPN.com has been playing around with their scoreboard pages the last few days so I'm not surprised to hear such a report. |

2008-10-31 21:54:00 Found 1 active recordings.
2008-10-31 21:54:00 NBA Basketball --> Event is over; recording stopped. Ok, so SRE detected the game ended properly at 21:54 and told Sage to stop recording it. However, I'm guessing you were watching the game live (or perhaps slightly time shifted, point being you were watching the game while it was recording)? Two things with the way Sage works: 1) If you're watching a recording while it's recording, Sage just treats it as live tv so if SRE decides to end the recording early then Sage will ignore the request and continue recording. If SRE decides it needs to extend the recording then it will do that just fine. 2) If you're watching a recording while it's recording and SRE tells it to stop then Sage ends the current recording (as long as it's over in the EPG) and continues recording the next show in a new file - just like live tv. SRE itself cannot actually stop Sage from recording, instead it only adjusts the paddings for recordings. SRE could force a stop by cancelling the recording, but then that deletes it automatically as well, which we obviously don't want to do. Assuming you were watching the game while it was recording, SRE did the best it could do in that the entire Raptors game is in one SageTV recording. Once SRE told Sage to stop recording, Sage stopped the NBA recording, but since you were still technically in live tv mode, it just continued on with recording whatever was next in the EPG, but started in a new file. To stop the recording of the following program, just stop watching it. When you do, the WWE recording should delete (if you auto delete incomplete live tv recordings) and the Raptors game should remain, in its entirety. To summarize, everything works as designed, assuming you were watching this game while it recorded. If that's not the case, then let me know, but the logs you pasted in suggest that this is the case here. |

You're right I was watching the game timeshifted while it ended. I find this is the best way to watch sports - you can zip through commercials, halftime, etc. Thanks for your help Slugger.

Absolutely! Typically, I'll watch some other recordings while the game records then after the game's over I'll start watching it - skip commercials, skip half time/intermissions/etc. If I'm afraid someone's going to call me and tell me the score, I'll start watching games 40-45 mins after they start, which usually allows me to skip by half time/intermissions and most commercials. I'll usually catch up to live late in the game, which is when people start to call when my poor Oilers, Dolphins, or Blue Jays are getting their [butts] handed to them.

My extender has been missing all of my sports programs recently. I missed the awesome ending of that Texas-Texas Tech game. I was running 2.0.0. I just tried to install 2.0.1, and I unzipped it into the folders like you say, but the about page still says I'm running 2.0.0.21 or something.

NFL parser broken for MNF tonight...
Long story short, the NFL parser is broken for tonight's MNF game in v2.0.0 and v2.0.1. If you want to know why read the issue ticket and the code diff from svn rev 42.
The current NFL parser will work after tonight as long as no more games fall on the 3rd day of the month (yes, that's right, this bug only surfaces on the 3rd day of each month - see the issue ticket and svn diff for the silly details). If you weren't planning on recording/monitoring tonight's MNF game then you don't need to update SRE, but if you are planning to monitor tonight's game then you'll need to apply the latest snapshot build, which I just finished building for everyone. These snapshots are fine, I'm just really busy and don't have the time to make an official release so feel free to grab a snapshot and install it for this fix. You need snapshot 42 (or higher) to get this NFL parser fix. |

Assuming you're running v2.x then I'd say your SageTV host is being blocked access to the internet.
If you're not running v2.x then upgrade as the NCAA football parser is broken in v1.x and won't be fixed. The NBA parser in v2.0.1 is a little flaky and I fixed another bug today that I discovered in the NFL parser. So if you are upgrading I'd suggest the latest snapshot I did from earlier today (see above post). All the parsers are good in the latest snapshot. If your Sage host does have internet access then I'm a little stumped and I'd have to prep a debug version of the plugin to try and track down exactly what's going on. |

Looks like I started my reply just before you added this edit. Good to see it's solved. I'm going to try and squeeze in the requisite regression testing tomorrow after dinner so watch for the official v2.0.2 release by Wednesday evening. v2.0.2 will contain a series of fixes for the various parsers - all of which are available in snapshot build 42 (or higher).

Hot Deploy Issues with Jetty Plugin
Please note that at this time there is an issue with the Jetty plugin, on Windows only, that is causing problems with the hot deploy functionality. Therefore, to upgrade/downgrade SRE it is recommended that users first stop SageTV, unzip the SRE zip file, then restart SageTV.
The installation doc has been updated to reflect this issue and a discussion of the issue - and the attempts to fix it - can be followed here. |

Thanks Slugger for all your hard work. I just realized mine wasn't working (using version 1.7) and of course I come on here and you've updated it.
Thanks so much - I realize you've worked very hard for all of us, and we don't thank you enough. Shawn

NCAA Basketball Monitor Broken
The NCAA basketball monitor is broken in all versions of SRE up to and including v2.0.3. A quick glance suggests the same fix used over the last couple weeks on the others will get it back up and running in no time, however I'm not going to be able to sit down and do it until probably Sunday morning.
In the meantime, it is suggested not to use SRE to monitor NCAA basketball games. If you're going to record NCAA basketball this weekend then you should disable SRE from monitoring during the game or simply stop the SRE application. An update with this fix should be ready before NFL kickoff on Sunday. All other in-season monitors (NHL, NBA, NCAA football, NFL) are working as of today's automated tests. I just noticed that the NCAA basketball parser was bad today as it's the first time this season that NCAA basketball has been in my EPG data for testing (don't get as much NCAA b'ball on the sched up here in Canada). |

Snapshot build 124 contains the fix for the NCAA basketball parser. The only code changes are those made to the parser so feel free to install this snapshot if you need the fixed NCAA b'ball parser before I get a chance to package it up and make an official release, which will hopefully be Sunday morning.
