video files not showing up in Recorded TV section
My previously recorded video will not show up in the reocrded tv section after I had a reinstall Sage. The proper folder is configured as well. Any tips on getting that to work? Thanks!!!

I guess you deleted your Sage database (wiz.bin) when you reinstalled. If you still have it, shutdown sage, restore it and restart sage.
Otherwise, you can add recorded TV show metadata to library files using my webserver plugin (painfully, one file at a time)

There is no way to import these back in? Is it really that complex of an undertaking to just have whatever video files are in this folder jut BE there? Or are there reasons for not doing this? Just odd to me....

If you remove the metadata for a recording (and you removed the entire DB I guess) then Sage cannot know what exact show name/episode name/ time / genre / description/channel/etc it was recorded from.
So it puts it in the Imported videos... How to reinstall and preserve metadata is a FAQ

I know this isn't BeyondTV or anything but sometimes I might have forgot to record something in the past (using BTV) and I would just download that show and slap it in the Recorded Shows folder. Although not the same naming conventions as the BTV files, I could still identify it and play it. I just don't understand why this doesn't do that as well or why it can't be added as an option. Anyone care to explain the finer details? Thanks!!!

because of the way it works, sage needs the show metadata to recognise it as a recorded TV show.
If it has no metadata, then it is an imported video (you can still play it from the imported video section). You can link a file with the metadata either by naming the file with the special number that references an internal DB ID of an airing (which may no longer exist in the DB), or by populating it by editing the show information in the webserver...
