Delete doesn't delete!
I've been using Sage for some time (version 2 or 3 IIRC), and since installing 6, I've had an interesting problem.

When I delete a program in the SageTV Recordings list, it may or may not delete. When it doesn't delete the file, the files get moved to the lower portion of the SageTV Recordings list after a few minutes. If I delete it after it's reached the bottom of the list, THEN it'll record. It's quite a PITA having to do this.

Also, is there some way to deter it from recording movies? These take up huge amounts of hard drive space and I don't have time to watch full-length movies.

Is that last word (record) a typo?

Do you have Comskip or some such utility running on the file? If some other app has the file open, SageTV probably won't be able to delete the file.

If you have IR enabled, not really. You can mark shows as Don't Like to remove them from the schedule.

There is also an Anti-Favorites customization you might look into.

No add-ons in use, just straight SageTV.

I've been doing that for at least 8 months and it still keeps recording movies, usually from ~6am-11am. Usually crappy movies at that.

Do you get a confirmation request when you try to delete the first time? it won't allow deletions when it is still recording.

You could enable debug logging to see what the log says when you first try to delete something.

Yep, it questions me as to if I really want to delete the program, and it disappears off the list, only to reappear at the very bottom. It appears below the disliked programs in the list.

You don't happen to have anything like Google Desktop installed on your machine do you?

I had similar problems until I stopped it from scanning my video directories.

I do have Google Desktop on here and that would make sense. I just disabled the Sage directories and will see if that makes a difference. I have a feeling that you've found the solution.

Delete Doesnt Delete Redux
I have had the same nagging problem for a long time as well. Most every time a show ends and it asks me if i want to keep or delete, and I say delete - it doesn't. I have to go find it at the bottom of the my recordings list and delete it again. I have it set to prompt me always, have no customizations, same behavior on the server or via PS. Haven't noticed it on client since i just picked it up the other day. I don't think it happened on V5. Current JRE is 1.6.0, but it has had the same behavior in many iterations of 1.5.x

The sage server is pretty much standalone, no Google etc. Not sure if the MS indexing service is on, i can check that. But since its is nearly every time, i am not sure if an external program is causing the problem. Perhaps sage / JAVA still has a lock on it / isn't totally released when that message to choose appears. That seems more plausible.

Server is Win XP Pro, Athlon 64 3200+ single core, 1G real, 600G aux until I can add another TB to it any day now....

Same here. But if you exit out of SageTV completely,(after a failed delete), when you come back the files will be deleted!
