I can tell you for sure that the Adaptec / HP AVC-3610 Dual Tuner USB's do not work reliably with SageTV. The video always works, and the audio works sometimes. I've tried both the drivers from Adaptec and the HP WHQL drivers; tried using just one tuner, tried it on multiple workstation builds, etc. all to no avail. The MPEG-2 file that is recorded has no audio stream so it's not a setup issue.
Strangely, these tuners work great in Media Center 2005. In fact, the other day I stopped Sage and re-enabled the MCE services and without a reboot the tuners worked, both audio and video. I now have 2 of these I'm going to have to put up on ebay. On a side note, the HDHomerun and Nvidia DualTV work fantastically. Shawn |

nbarzgar: I don't think all the ATI AIW software encoder cards work in SageTV.
Shield: That tuner isn't listed on the supported tuner list, unless it is listed under a different name. You could report your results to SageTV; maybe they would add support for it in the future. - Andy

Thanks for answering so fast. I feared as much.
It's a great card, but unfortunately, esp. since ATI discontinued the AIW-series last year (prior to AMD merger), it is extremely frustrating to find any good software for recording TV with EPG-functionality integrated. Well, so long. |

I have read that the OnAir GT is supported, but I can not find people that are happy with the setup. I can not get mine to load digital channels, only analog. I am still looking for support on this issue. My 15 days are running out and it does not look like they are happy together.

Geniatech X8000A ATSC & NTSC, It works in Sage 6.2 beta
I've just done a preliminary test with a Geniatech X8000A PCI card using the 6.2 Sage beta. Sage had no problems recognizing the card (Conexant 2388x). I wasn't able to determine the tuner prior to install and wasn't sure this card would work with Sage. After the install and seeing how Sage recognizes the card, I see the tuner is listed as most likely supported.
I have only tested the OTA functionality using ATSC. I doubt it does QAM (I don't have digital cable to verify). I have not yet tried NTSC (I didn't get the card for the NTSC capabilties). The test PC is WinXP SP2, Intell 805 D, Gigabyte (GA-945GZM-S2) Mobo, 2 GB ram, integrated Intel graphics. I got the card on EBay for $40.50 including shipping (I seem to remember a Buy It now price of $49.95). There is also driver support for Vista. This card does not do QAM tuning. Likewise I couldn't get my ATI HDTV Wonder to work with my ATI TV Wonder 650.
I currently have a Hauppauge pvr-250, Hauppauge hvr-1600, and ATI HDTV Wonder all working together, giving me 2-analog and 2-digital recorders. The analog tuner on the HDTV Wonder also works but the recording quality was horrible so I disabled it. Last edited by malore; 09-10-2007 at 09:24 AM. |

Tuner Request: KWorld ATSC/QAM
The readily available KWorld ATSC/QAM tuner works with it's own (seriously debilitated) software. It does not currently work with Sage (it's not listed as such either). Its software does allow channel finding, and I'm working on exporting that channel list into Sage with the hope it'll pick up the QAM channels (NTSC tunes just fine, so the device can talk to Sage).
Let me know if there will ever be official support! |

Pinnacle PCTV USB Stick
You can add the Pinnacle PCTV USB Stick ( PCTV 70e ) to the list of DVB-T tuners that work with SageTV.

Sapphire 650
I have a Sapphire 650 Pro. It is a hybrid tuner card with both ATSC/NTSC tuners. But I cannot get the clear QAM to work on it like it does on the HP 1600. Anyone have any luck witht that?
BTW, the analog works great and $70 is a great price too. |

From http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/pages/pro...a_hvr4000.html
"WinTV-HVR-4000 PCI card with built-in DVB-S2, DVB-S, DVB-T, PAL/SECAM TV receivers, FM radio receiver and S-Video, Composite and stereo audio inputs." So the answer is no NTSC John |

Yup, listed as Europe and Asia only.
That would rock as a NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuner

I'm having problems with the Hauppauge WinTV NOVA HD S2.
Problems arise during scan for channels (Astra 19.2). SageTV Service (6.2.10) on WHS aborts in the middle of the scan, leaving the following trail in the error log: # EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x144055f9, pid=3884, tid=5828 # # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.6.0-b105 mixed mode) # Problematic frame: # C [DShowCapture.dll+0x155f9]

WinTV NOVA HD S2 works
Problems are there to be solved ...
First I found the DShowCapture.dll reported to have solved Astra Channel scanning problems for other cards (http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/DShowCapture.dll). I was then able to scan all channels successfully. Viewing the channels was a nightmare, however. Channel changing times up to one minute and test recording that would never stop - no matter how hard I tried. Then I remembered to have read something about problems with DVB based EPG. I added the card as a source once more and used a lineup created by the XMLTV Import tool by LM Gestion. Downloading the EPG still took an eternity, but channel changing times with the new source was down to about 10 seconds (still not satisfied - but working, at least). Finally, another look in the forums and I found StephaneM's solution get rid of any tries to download EPG from the DVB stream: Change the following setting in sage.properties to true: epg_data_sources/XXXXX/disable_data_scanning=false. After the above - the WinTV NOVA HD S2 works. Performance (channel change) is on par with my WinTV PVR500. Have not tried any S2 channels, though.

Under Windows XP Pro SP2
Sage 6.2.10 My HVR1600 works well for cable, QAM, and OTA, but we all know that. I am using it for analog cable and QAM I have been able get a LeadTek WinFast HDTV Cinema to work on it's OTA ASTC input only. Since it is a Hybrid tuner at his time I am fine with that, now I have all my bases covered for the three main transmission types. I am now just waiting to see what comes of cable card tuners, and if I will need to upgrade to vista. |
