Want video card will work w/Vista?
I am looking to get a new video card for my Sage computer, but I want it to be able to work well w/Vista. I have heard that only a few current cards will work with Vista's AERO technology. Is this true?
Also, which cards are good that will work w/Sage and Vista?

I think the requirement is for rather heafty DX9 (or better) capability. If I were looking I'd probably go with something like a Geforce 7600.
Of course that said I'd serously consider waiting a few months until you can get cards that do HDCP output. |

Thanks for the reply.
I see on Newegg.com there is a 7600GS and a 7600GT. I assume both of them will work? and what is the difference between them?

I would wait but for circumstances that I don't want to get into, I have no desktop anymore and need to get one soon.

I probably wouldn't go with anything less than a 7600GT then.

If it's just getting a video card to get a working system then maybe get a cheaper card now and then take stangers advice and get a card that will support HDCP when Vista comes out.

While todays graphics cards may "work" with Vista, to be completely Vista compliant a graphics card must support the next DirectX version (unlike previous versions of DirectX this will be an all or nothing deal - either the card supports everything in DirectX or it can't claim compliance).
Since no card on the market today does this there's no guarantee anything bought today will support all of Vista's tricks. Mike |

Get something with 256MB of GDDR3 256Mbit video ram. On the AGP side, many of the ATI cards have this, but only the 7800GS on the Nvidia side. ATI & Nvidia pci-express cards have it, just pay attention to the video ram bus speed 256Mbit (not 128Mbit).
