6.1 Vista .. uh no ?

6.1 lists Vista capable .. The server maybe but the extender will NOT work with 6.1 and Vista, I talked to tech support about this, its chronicled well in the extender forum so i'm posting it here before anyone upgrades to Vista and finds its not as compatable as they hoped.

Shrug if I were a new user of Sage and saw the 6.1 announcement I would assume that 6.1 worked with all its features on Vista, which is not the case, hence my post.

FSE doesn't work properly in vista. So I don't think they should advertise that it's compatible either.

Motofreak,

Uh I even have a PM from YOU just a week ago saying "i went back to XP until Sage gets the Vista/MVP issues sorted out" the TCP scaling "helps" but does NOT solve the problem.

There are numerous posters in the extender forum who have verified that the MVP/Vista does NOT work even with tcp scaling off.

I went back to XP on my server (if you want to be an ass about it) for other reasons. I still use Vista for Sage Client with no issues with HD or SD with FSE turned on ! I couldn't run Java 1.4.13-1.5.11 on Vista because it doesn't work right, and causing Sage & MVP to mess up among other problems. Java 1.6 works ( and is the only recommended version to on Vista) just fine period ! But since my epg/other software on server machine requires 1.5.11 and lower, I couldn't use java 1.6/Vista.

I used Vista as my server for 8 weeks with java 1.6 and my mvp ran fine/fast great. But without other programs thatI needed I was SOL and went back to XP.

The next time you want you my MHO, please ask someone else.

Closing this thread because SageTV V6.1 does support Vista. If you have problems, contact us about them. There's plenty of users that are running Vista without any problems; even using media extenders.
