6.1.8 ... some great things, and a minor oops?

I'm a new user (3 weeks) and last night installed the new 6.1.8 to replace the Beta 6.1.7 I was using... first... WOW! My CPU usage went down from an average of 55% down to around 38%... looks like i now have enough power to add a second card. (May not sound impressive, but I am using an ATI HDTV wonder, so I had to fight to get my usage down... my system is on the very minimal power side)

However, I did discover two woopses... Note when I installed the new version, I removed my old Sage.properties file, so I could get a clean start, (But left my WIZ file intact, to keep my existing shows...) Two things happened... first, my channel logo pics that are displayed in the preview window if no video is playing are shown twice the normal size ... looking very bad. (They showed fine when looking at the EPG)

Second, when I did a channel scan, I am now missing a couple of channels. (I just installed a new HD antenna as well) Sage detects the channels, and shows them as having a signal strength of 96-98%... but when I try to view them, it comes up as "No signal". I have tried to disable all the channels, and do a re-scan, but same thing.... Any ideas?

There's really no need to remove your old Sage.properties file for a "clean start." Any applicable settings that can be carried over (in this case, all of them) will be just fine.

The only thing you should "start fresh" with on each install is the application .xml file. Always start with the default SageTV3.xml and then add in your .stvi's.

Thanks.... the only reason I killed my sage.properties file was because I had been doing numerous testing to try to get the Svideo side of my ATI HDTV card to work. (Everything else works great) but in looking at my sage.properties file, everytime I tried to install the Svideo, then removed it as a source, then re-installed, the sage properties file was getting bigger and bugger.... saving all the retained info... so my properties file was getting HUGE! For speed reasons, I wanted to shrink it down to a regular, "clean" size.

I also read a sticky somewhere saying that deleting the properties file was a good way to start over...

But thanks for the reply... now if I can just figure out the "No signal" issue...

The signal shows strong (96-98%) but sage says "no signal". If I go back to the ATI software and check the channel, it works fine...

Did you check whether the drive Sage is buffering live tv to has enough space left? Since you're running a minimalistic setup, maybe the drive is a bit on the small side as well? I've also had Sage give a "no signal" message, where in reality it was just the hard drive running out of space for the buffer.

Thanks for the High Rez link.... I'll take a look at that.... the old ones worked great in 6.1.7 beta... but in 6.1.8 they got doubled in display size. I'll check it out.

As for the disk space... I checked, and I'm down to a mere 200 Gigs... probably enough

Actually, Sage support is working with me on the "No Signal" issue, so I suspect all will be well soon! I've only been with Sage for a few weeks, but overall, I made the right choice!
