no more .TS now MPG...is this right? HDHomerun
I believe when I updated to 6.1.9 something changed as all of my recordings are now being saved as .mpg files v. .ts as they were being saved prior to the change. My files are from HDHomerun. Did I get a setting wrong? Are the MPG files being converted from .ts...am I losing quality?
Also, I am having playback issues with the recently recorded files where they start to stutter and video slows to a crawl. Client CPU usage is negligible but the file is unwatchable. Older files play back fine. Essentially I am saying "help"!!! mv Last edited by jmv; 04-25-2007 at 11:10 AM. |

HDHR files are still TS files, but have the .mpg extension. If you open up the file in Sage and look at the video info, it should still show you that it is a MPEG-TS file, even though it has the .mpg extension.
The setting that controls PS .vs TS files is encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream=true and there was a change in its usage for V6.1. It is now configurable as an encoder specific setting, instead of a systemwide setting. It now looks like this, mmc/encoders/269498737/100/0/encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream=true Currently, all HDHR files are TS files, even if the setting is set fro program_stream=true. But if set to true, then it will be saved as .mpg. IF you change to false, you should get your .ts back. IIRC, when silicondust and Sage get the BDA settings correct, Sage will be able to record from the HDHR in PS format as well.

Jack,
Thanks for the help, I found 2 instances of the setting you suggest I change in the Sage.properties file. (but I have 2 HDHomeruns and 4 tuners...so is it 1 per Homerun e.g.2 is right or one per tuner e.g. should have been 4 instances). I changed both to false. Now I have most files recording as .ts again, but I still have some recording as .mpg. Did I miss something. The one file that is .mpg also happens to be non-HD (Mythbusters) the four true HD programs recorded as .ts (but this could be a coincidence). Any more insight? thanks, mv |

The only thing I can tell you is that I have two instances of the setting, one for each tuner of my HDHR.

Mine are set to true with no major problems. The files are recorded as .mpg even though they are TS files.
