HD Homerun and DUAL CORE processors
Is anyone running the HDHomeRun in QAM mode with Dual Core processors, specifically Intel CORE2 DUO?
I have 2 USB-GT's that have been working great until I upgraded my mediaserver to a CORE2 DUO. Now I'm told that the USB-GT's drivers don't like Multi-threaded or Hyperthreaded CPUs and I get crashes all the time in Sage, I understand from everyone that the Homerun is pretty much trouble free but I don't want to blow ANOTHER $160 (already have $360 invested in the two on-air GT's) without knowing if someone else is running a similar configuration. Thanks! Stacy |

I have been running 2 HDHomeruns networked to a QX6700 (quad core 2) for 3 months with out a single issue (accept comcast re-arranging their QAM channels for no good reason, but that had nothing to do with the server.)

Thanks for the info everyone.
That's just what I wanted to hear. I certainly am disapointed that I have to throw away 2 perfectly good USB-GT's becuase the don't seem to work with HT or MT CPUs. I just can't listen to my wife any more when Sage crashes. Stacy |

Core 2 Duos are not multi-threaded.
There are 2 cores, each core can operate on a different thread if the program supports multi-core CPUs. However, each core is only single threaded. Maybe they meant that the USB-GT's do not support multi-core CPUs? |

Why on earth would a digital capture device need to be multi-threaded?
Recording two shows at once (but not watching) on my server puts maybe a 1% load on it. |

I feel that one. Unfortunately for me, I like to keep fiddling with things..

Don't know. All I know is Sage told me it is a known problem with On-AirGT. Also, everything was just fine until I upgraded my server to a CORE2 DUO then all hell broke lose with the GT's.

As a software developer and someone who has written drivers, I can tell it has do to with poor software development. Basically the driver can run on any processor, virtual as in hyper threading or real as in multiple cores or CPUs. If the driver is not written properly and protection is not used it will crash the OS all the time in this environment.

Isn't this tuner listed as a supported card?
Seems like it should be removed if their driver development is so poor. |

IMHO, as of yet Sage doesn't make any use of their BDA drivers.
