Does Avermedia A180 support QAM in SageTV?

I currently have two Avermedia A180's in my SageTV machine. Both are connected to my OTA HDTV antenna. Is it as simple as unplugging one of them from the antenna and plugging it into my TV cable? I am using the latest official XP drivers. Do I have to do anything special?

No -- see the SageTV System Requirements.

Nope. The only way to get QAM with the A180 for Sage is to use this:

Thanks for your responses. Is the OnAir HDTV-GT product the only product which will provide QAM without any network encoder stuff? I asked their tech support and they told me all you have to do is install a driver.

The only options are:

Onair GT via PCI/USB
HDHomerun via cat 5 (2 tuners for the same price as single tunder Onair)
Fusion5/A180/etc via a seperate computer running the above mentioned software

Those are your QAM options. Remember, all of those are still only Clear Qam. If it is encrypted, you are still out of luck.

I think you more or less answered my question... The OnAir GT via USB is the ONLY option without going through a network (TCP/IP) interface. I don't think there is a PCI version of it. I ended up buying two of them from buy.com.

Just curious, but what happens if you connect your digital cable feed from the wall to the A180, start up Sage and scan for channels?

BT

My son tried this on his cable system in Alvin TX and a channel scan pulled up NOTHING. This was with a new A180 card.
