Multiple monitors: anything new under the sun?
Like some others here, I'm struggling to get Sage to work on a multi-monitor (actually a PJ and a monitor) setup with differing resolutions on each monitor. My goal is to show the Sage UI on the secondary monitor and the video on the primary. If the UI appeared on the primary or video appeared on the secondary that would be fine but not necessary.
I've tried Ultramon and it doesn't seem to work with 3D acceleration enabled, and with 3D disabled performance is unacceptable. Possible solutions I can think of are somehow setting Sage to use 3D acceleration to display video but not use it for the UI (so Ultramon could mirror the UI to the 2nd monitor), or configure Sage to show the UI and the video window on different monitors. But as far as I know both are impossible? Anyone have any other ideas?

Theater Mode (ATI) or Video Mirror (nVidia) are the only way I can think of to get Video onto a second display of a different resolution.

Hmmm... I thought theater mode (my card's an ATI 9550) would only work if both monitors were set to the same resolution? Unfortunately mine are pretty mismatched - the projector's 1280x720, the LCD is 1024x768.
I'll give it another try though.

Clone mode only works if they're matched, Theater Mode should work regardless.

Update for anyone who's interested...
Stanger is as usual, right. I emailed ATI tech support and they said the same thing: clone mode only works with identical resolutions (guess I should have RTFM). I got it to semi-work by making my LCD monitor the primary and the PJ the secondary and using "theater mode", but the performance is lousy. I came up with a super-kludgy solution that consists of running a VNC client on the secondary monitor and using a loopback connection to display the contents of the primary, but that has issues too. Maybe if we sent the Sage guys a really nice gift, we could convince them to add an option to run the UI and the video on different monitors?
