MVP remote issues

My MVP remote requires that I push each button twice for the command to go through. I don't use it often, but when I had it set up the first time it didn't do that. Somewhere along the line I made some changes on the server and then this became an issue. I have no way that I know of to backtrack this, because like I said, I don't use it often and don't recall when the issue started. Are there any straight forward reason why this could happen?

Craig

Also, Which download do I need to run the MVP?

The MVP software is built into the server, so all you need is SageTV installed on your server.

Are you using the Hauppuage remote that came with the MVP, or a custom remote that you programmed w/the MVP's remote's codes?

If you programmed your own remote: the Hauppuage remotes use a toggle code that sends an alternating code every time you press the same button twice in a row. You need to learn each button twice w/o pressing any other buttons in between each learning process. (Every time you press a button, it resets to the first code for the next press of any other button.)

Question

Has anything been done about this issue yet? I'm using the MVP remote and it seems that more often than not I need to issue a command more than once to get a response from the screen. Sometimes as many as 3 presses are required. I think, but am not sure, that this started with v6. my and WAF is low over this.

I had this same problem until I reloaded Sage on my server.
In the initial setup select yes to configure support for the Hauppauge remote.

That solved the problem for me anyway.

Good luck

The only thing I can suggest is to try v6.2 & file a bug report if the remote isn't responsive.

Edit: There is a new property to try setting in v6.2: rc5_disable. While using v6.2, you could try changing its true or false setting. (I think you want it to be false, but I'm not sure.)

That was probably a different issue; the installer option for the Huappauge remote has to do with controling SageTV on a PC, not the MVP.

simple things seem to work the best. I didn't realize the remote still had the original batteries from last year.
That helped a ton. now I'm down to 1 or 2 buttons not working unless I press them firmly. Guess i need to poke around for a learning remote that can handle the toggle bit or look for a replacement eventually.

LED on the MVP was blinking even with the old batteries though. oh well.

I'm quite fond of the Logitech Harmony remotes.
