How many tuners can SageTV software handle?

I was wondering how many tv tuners can the SageTv software handle? I know that a dual tuner card is available. But could I put (2) dual tuner cards in my PC and have the SageTv software handle them?

If so, has anyone out there done this?

as long as your pc is good enough to cope it will be ok. I have 4 tuners, and I know a lot of people have many more than that

I run 5 tuners currently. 2 duals and a single. I've heard of people using 8+. This assumes hardware encoders for analog or ATSC tuners.

I'm running 7 now (4 SD and 3 HD). I havne't tried recording from all 7 at a time, but its "cool" that I could!

Edit: My 4 SD tuners are coming from 2 Dual Tuner Cards (One Avermedia Purity 500MCE and one hauppauge 500), so you can definately do 2 dual tuner cards (in fact I think someone here uses 3 Hauppauge 500's).

Sure can. I've got 2 PVR-500s, 1 PVR-150, 1 HDHR, and 1 FW'ed STB for a total of 8 tuners.

I use 3 hauppauge 500s (probably not the only one). Also have an HD Home run (dual HD).

So I can record 8 things at once.

I know i've recorded 6 things at once on more than one occasion and probably have used 7 tuners once or twice (not positive on that).

My primary recording channels are abc, cbs, nbc & fox. Seldom, but occasionally I'll record all 4 in a 30 or 60 minute block. Spanish speaking inlaws live with us, so one tuner is usually recording telemundo during prime time.
My kid is 5, so one tuner is often on disney, cartoon network or boomerang. 6 simultaneous recordings isn't really that rare. It'll be nice to give them a break over the summer months though!

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm building new intel dual core computer and plan to use my current computer for the tuner cards. My current computer is a Pentium 4, 3ghz, 3 gigs of memory. So, from what you guys have said, I'm pretty sure that I'm going to be able hand 2 dual tuner cards.

On a related note are there any cards out there with more than 2 tuners built on? I'm limited to one PCI slot and didn't really want to do USB. I'd love to have 3 tuners.

I don't know of any 3 or more tuners cards out there. I think you are going to have to use a usb tuner or throw in a new MB

I have 10 tuners on mine, works very well, love it. Try to go for a board with enough slots: I have dual-tuner cards on my 3 PCIe slots plus 4 firewire tuners. Could actually fit two PCI tuners in too if I wanted...
