having sound problems..please help
When I first click on anything with audio - live tv, media files, etc... about 75% of the time I have no sound for about 30 to 45 seconds. Then the sound comes on and plays fine for a while.
If its an HD program / recording or if its a DVD, the sound will start becoming very choopy about 45 minutes to an hour into the show or recording or movie. Then the sound cuts out completely. This seems to last about 5 minutes...Then it starts up again, just fine...maybe 15 to 20 minutes later, we get choppy again and then it cuts out for another 5 minutes. All through this the video plays fine. Most times this is only with HD or DVD (Thus probably true AC3 sound). For my audio decoder for video/audio the setting is directsound : realtek ac97....for the DVD audio decoder the setting is just realtek ac97.. (not sure why they are different) I use AC3 filter. The sound is coming from my realtec output on my computer to a receiver. This never happens on my MVP's, only the main computer system. Any Ideas? Thanks, Gary Ellis |

set your sage out to default wave out device and install the latest ac3filter 1.3 but put it in a non suggested folder (ie. c:\ac3\filter) delete the ac3filter.ax file in the sagetv folder and set ac3filter to use wave out in its settings.
it's long but it's what worked for me. |

I've got the new AC3 Filter, but I didn't delete the one in Sage folder. Weird behavior trying to edit decoder properties (either nvidia video or ac3 Filter) from the tray icons during playback.
I've got soundmax audio and chose that as the render in sage. AC3 filter properties set to direct sound. What happens when you stop playback and then start it again? Maybe check the box in AC3 Filter to re-initialize sound card on pause. What happens if you play back the file in a different player...isolate it away from Sage. I've been playing around with this stuff for a couple of days. Seems it works sometimes and then stops. This afternoon I got no sound, and cycled my amp to another sound source and then back to the digital from sage and my audio came back.

When I stop playback and start again, sometimes it plays, but most times it does not...I usually have to wait my 5 minutes and it starts again...
You can imagine the WAF with this problem... Thanks, Gary Ellis |

try playing the file in a different player..vlc, windows media, or media player clasic. See if the sound stops there.
Are you using digital out from your computer? Maybe try toggling that off. WAF...not a problem for me!
