SageTV Graphics: 2D engine or 3D engine?
OK. I am suffering from stuttering on my HD channels even though my system is plenty fast enough to play them (plays fine through VLC). Before I go and drop another 200 on a new video card when I'm running an ATI x1800xt already I want to try overclocking my video card. ATI sets it up so you can overclock the vid card in 3d apps easily but that will only kick in during a 3d program.
Is SageTV considered a 3d program? |

You shouldn't need to buy a new video card. What decoder are you using for playback?

I just ran GraphEdit and here is my pathing:
VIDEO FILE > NVidia Transport Demux > NVidia Video Decoder > Video Renderer > NVidia Audio Decoder > AC3Filter > Default Direct Sound In SageTV all the settings are to use the system defaults except the MPEG2 Audio which is set to the SageTV decoder or else I can't seem to get sound out of my SD channels. |

Also, make sure you're capturing HD content to a drive local to the server (i.e., not to a network share). |

thank you all for your help. I figured out my problem, partially. I am now watching my HDTV with no stutter.
My big issue I think was that I forgot to disable virus scanning on my tv recording drive. The other thing I did was download the Cyberlink ATI decoders to utilize my ATI x1800xl video cards hardware instead of the NVidia Purevideo using my CPU. Thank you all again. Ian. |
