Do you have an SDTV or another display?

How are you connecting to your TV or monitor?

What display resolution are you using?
If its an SDTV, the display should be set to 720x480 at 60Hz.
I'm using component cables on a TV that supports 1080i (not flat panel). Doesn't matter if I'm plugged into my TV, my 1680x1050 monitor, or both. Same issues.

There is a setting for flicker control. You should reduce the control to increase flicker because this gives a much sharper image for video even if for the windows desktop the lines flicker.
Yeah, I've messed with it and set everything up for the TV using both the wizard and manual.

Doesn't matter whether I have Default or Purevideo decoders set, I never see any PureVideo icon?

I should clarify that CPU goes ballistic when I'm navigating. So, it's the graphics that are really causing issues, navigating, anything that Sage has to deal with...regular video is pretty decent on the CPU if that's all I'm doing. Doesn't matter if I have video in the background or in the small screen while navigating...it's now killing my machine and it didn't used to. Driving me nuts. I'm half-tempted to rebuild the entire box. Grr.

Wish I knew where this was...I assume it's from the missing icon I'm supposed to have?

Thanks for the help so far...going to keep plugging at this.

Well if you don't see the nvidia icon the decoder is either not running or you are one of the very few people who experience the problem of no icon appearing even the decoder is running....

I think there is a thread somewhere about this.

But I suspect that given the problems you are having, the decoder may not be running at all.

Another way to get the decoder control panel is to install RadLight Filter Manager. Go into directshow filters and click on properties for the Nvidia Video Decoder. Here you can also up the priority of the decoder so that it overrides other you may have.
