Unhappy SageTV won't start, and broke my HVR-1600

Hi all, I got a new Hauppauge HVR-1600 last week and it was working great until I installed the SageTV trial. For starters, after a new installation, SageTV simply will not work. If I try to start the service manually, I get a logon error, even though I have put my user name and password in. It just says there is a logon failure. After I uninstalled SageTV, my tuner card was no longer able to tune any digital channels, while analog channels continued to work fine. I've tried every possible remedy to fix it, and had obtained an RMA# and was about to send the card back, when I tried reinstalling SageTV one last time. Of course, it continued to not work, but the digital tuner of the HVR-1600 became active once again. Now the only way I can use my card is to leave SageTV installed and inactive. Could there be some dll or other shared resource that the Sage uninstaller erased, which the HVR driver relied upon? Reinstalling the HVR software does not fix it, only reinstalling Sage does.

And of course Sage doesn't work at all. Clicking on the SageTV icon does nothing, and using the Sage Control Panel to start the service, or using Administrative Tools Services page just gives me the logon errors.

Any help is appreciated. If I can't get Sage to work, I don't want to have to leave it installed, but right now that's the only way I can use my card, in either WinTV which came with it, or BeyondTV. BTV works well, but I would at least like to try all the competing products before I purchase one.

Forgot to mention, I'm running Vista Business, on an Athlon 3800+x2 w/2G RAM
Thanks, Dan

I don't know about the issues with the tuner, but are you using the latest version of SageTV? Do you have the latest version of Java installed, so that it will work in Vista? If you are already using SageTV v6.1 and Java v1.6, you could also try SageTV tech support, unless someone with more knowledge of Vista knows a definite solution.
