umm.... almost...

Configure VFD to NOT use the dispay. (set run vfd when starts to NEVER)

shut down VFD

Install the Package

Install the VFD / LCD driver program (LCDSmartie or SageMCEdisplay) of your choice.

configure the sage keymap.

restart VFD

start VFD/LCD driver prgram.

so... at this point both VFD and a third-party display driver are running... VFD controls the remote and the volume knob and the third-party program controls the VFD/LCD.

I have also figured out a way to patch the Soundgraph iMon software and the Antec software to run on the same system (although not at the same time... and the Soundgraph software has not been updated will not control an LCD display yet). That will let you install both and use the Soundgraph software to edit the remote control files. I'll document it in the next few days.

Another new version of the iMON OEM LCD display driver for LCDsmartie.

Changed: Customer character support modified to conform as closely as possible to the format used by the Matrix Orbital driver, so that more LCDsmartie data diaplay plugins are usable on with the iMON.

Added: support of the discrete icons that surround the display, including an animated disk icon.

Dcumentation is included in with the DLL.

Anyone using this display driver, or remote control packages for VFD... PLEASE... let me know how it's working for you....

...as soon as my buddy gets his HTPC back (there was a short in the case somewhere, and they sent the front panel off thinking it was the issue) I will get this driver installed and let you know.

I haven't had a chance to play with this myself yet. I have been just using the stock stuff with black tape over the IR. But ive been noticing that SageMCEDisplay tends to flake out, or lock up on me.

I think ill have to try this stuff out soon, well, after the 10,000 other non hobby things I have to get done.

Hi dgbruce,

I much appreciate what you are doing. Would it be possible to make the new iMon BETA version from Soundgraph work with the Antec Fusion Black case. I think they now have support for the LCD themselves because they have their own iMon Ultra Bay that has the same LCD and uses the same iMon BETA software

I don't know if the beta can be made to work with the Antec LCD... I haven't looked at it yet... It was only release last night...

And i've been busy writing drivers for GBPVR and MediaPortal.. their code get used here, so gotta give something back...

I'll look at it over the next few days...

The new beta can be patched so that it will run and control the display... but they have made changes that exclude the IR receiver..... so the choice is old version - IR works, but no display OR new version display work, IR doesn't...

Getting the IR to work with the new version will be difficult, as the sg_rc.dll is undocumented and virtually unexplored...

So I don't think that the new version is worth exploring yet... it is a BETA after all... and will change before a final release...

So I was giving this a try, but could not get past this part:

Offset 2A625 change 0F 84 6C 0E 00 00 to 90 90 90 90 90 90
offset 2A631 change 0F 84 60 E0 00 00 to 90 90 90 90 90 90
offset 2A63D change 0F 84 54 E0 00 00 to 90 90 90 90 90 90
offset 43A8D change 0F 84 84 0C 00 00 to 90 90 90 90 90 90
offset 43A99 change 0F 84 78 0C 00 00 to 90 90 90 90 90 90

The hex editors I have tried did not give the same results. The offsets you have listed do not exist. And when I search for the strings I can't find the 2nd and 3rd one.

I just looked at IMON.exe and it says it is version 6.0.1.202 and not 6.01.0202 as listed in the read me.
This is on Vista Home Premium if that makes any difference.

Kricker:

I just verified the instructions I provided....

The file is over 2 megs in size (213FFF).. the offsets are well within the file size.

But, yes, there are some typo's in the instructions...
1) references to iMON2.exe should read iMON.exe
2) references to 6.01.202 should read 6.0.1.202 (same thing really, just different notation)

But, for you convenience, I have attached a file patcher to automatically patch the files with the appropriate values in the appropriate places...
It assumes that you have installed the Antec and Soundgraph software in the default locations (c:\Program Files\ANTEC\VFD\ and c:\Program Files\SOUNDGRAPH\iMON\) and will automatically create a backup of the original files.

Well I guess I just suck at hex editing then Thanks for the patcher. I will give that a whirl.

Patch worked beautifully. Thank You very much.

I got a few more questions, but I'll have to get to them later.

where can i get the version 6.0.1.202 of imon? i've installed the version from cd and the actual version from the soundgraph homepage (6.0.1.412)
If i try to patch it with the patcher file i get the message "Patch failed for segment 0 at offset 2a625

Patch FAILED!"

Can anybody send me a already patched version?

I just did a new download and clean install of the iMON software from the soundgraph site... The version they have posted is 6.0.1.0122 and it only updates to 6.0.1.0202...

What did it do for you??? Maybe you can zip up the iMON.exe file and send it to me so I can update the patcher....

the .202 version (unpatched) is attached..
