BDA HDHomerun
Stop trolling the forums and go to lunch for a change, and they release a new version... Does the new version require you use it in BDA, or will it continue to function as I have it set up now? I'd like to keep it as-is for the time being, as it's working perfectly.
I'm also very interested in the changes for Windows Home Server. I may blow my Sage box out tomorrow, and put my copy of WHS on there, just need to make sure I can get drivers for my tuners for Server 2003 (at worst, I'll most those suckers over to one of my other boxes though). Now if I could just get a HD Extender or 3, I'd be a very happy camper :P.

I was wondering the same thing, but I'm willing to bet it will continue to function, after all it's just a network encoder right now.
So what are the benefits of going to BDA? Many of my HDHR recordings have the timestamps all screwed up (skipping doesn't work right), will BDA fix this sort of problem? -Chris

This isn't a reply to your questions, because I don't know the answer. But the thread topic is perfect for what I want to know.
What is the advantage to having a BDA driver available in Sage for the HDHR? I've Googled enough to know that is stands for MS Broadcast Driver Architecture but it still isn't clear to me what that buys me over the previous paradigm. It is a benefit only if using Windows Media Center? |

I just installed this remotely and it works with the current HDHOMERUN drivers. I will have to check when I get home to see if it switched to BDA or not, but no configuration changes were needed.

You can still use the old way if you desire.
2 main advantages of switching to BDA are: 1) Don't need to run the HDHomeRunManager app anymore. Server can easily run headless. 2) Sage does its own internal fixing of streams with bad timestamps and should improve the timeline issues some are having. |

Forgot to also mention that I run in QAM mode, wonder if Sage supports it on that with BDA, or if you still need to use it in encoder mode?
If it works in QAM mode with BDA, that'd be just one less thing I have to make sure is working . Quote:

I am also the HDHR Manager but will switch to BDA if it fixes the timestamp issues. What do I need to do to switch to the BDA drivers? I am assuming just stopping the HDHR Manager and installing the beta will do the trick? Do I need to uninstall the HDHR Manager?

I also can not see the HDHR tuner after following these directions. I already had a remap file (I tried used the HDHR under BeyondTV and MCE) which is as follows:
Quote:
I double checked that I have the latest software, there is no SiliconDust.freq file in the Sage directory and Sage is disabled in the HDHR setup program.

The directions neglected to mention to stop Sage and clear any Silicon Dust entries from the mmc/ignore_encoders line.

Thanks ToxMox, that did the trick. I just removed the two entries and the both tuners showed up right away.

I couldn't see the tuners to set them up while running in service mode. However, starting sagetv in non-service mode allowed me to see them and set them up. Once done, I put sage back in service mode and it works correctly.
