Cable Box Problems

So, Time Warner just told me that I cannot access any channels above 30 (which includes TNT, FX, SciFi, etc.) without a cable box. This, of course, totally messes with SageTV for me. Since my main reason for SageTV and my 4 tuner cards is to record multiple shows at the same time. Yes, I truely am a TV addict.

Does anyone know a way to still use all my tuner cards with the cable box?

And is the little IR transmitter the only way to change channels? My channel box has a USB port . . . is there a way to directly connect via USB?

Help!

I've already missed The Closer episode, and as far as I can find - it does NOT repeat!

That's a bummer. What box do they have you running? OOC - will they provide you with 4 boxes for free?

They may have told you that, but have you confirmed that. Hook up straight cable to a cable-ready TV and see what you see. If they are only sending analog channels up to 30, then you will need to get a cable box for each tuner card in order to tune in the digital channels.

one tuner card per cable box.

Your 6200 may have a firewire 1394 port on it (if not, you should be able to get firewire-equipped 6200s from the CC. YOu can use firewire to change the channels, pretty much 100% accuracy. And if you are really lucky, you may have a good selection of channels available to be recorded off the 6200 via firewire in 100% digital, with no tuner card needed.
