Soapbox: Against using the term 'latest version'
I would respectfully ask that all posters drop the use of 'latest version', or any time-based term like 'current version'. Posts take on a life of their own, and are often still useful weeks, months, and even several years after; but the term 'latest version' becomes a complete mystery. Often, a poster will say "I'm using the latest version of ___fill_in_the_blank___ and ___this_happens___". All we know is that the poster was convinced in their mind that they are using the latest, but we don't know what that might have been.
In addition, even on the day of the post, we are often not sure if the poster is aware of the very newest release or of a harder-to-find release. Often, the latest release may not be available yet at the 'official' release site. This applies to Java, SageTV, Hauppauge or any hardware drivers, codecs, ffdshow or any other third-party player or editor or utility.
Please take a moment to be specific about what version of software, driver, or hardware you are using, even if it seems obvious to you, because it won't be in a few weeks. It's very helpful to others who may wish to help, and to others who may wish to learn from your problem, and it may even help get the problem solved sooner.
