Overlay issues
I have a PVR350 and a Matrox G450 DualHead. When I use the hauppauge wintv2000 everything works fine in overlay mode. However when I use overlay in sage the picture is dark, I know you can change the brightness in the advanced video capture settings of sage but that is not what I need since it will alter the brightness of the recorded video aswell.
When I use VMR the picture brightness is perfect but the quality is bad (worse than win2000 in overlay). I don't see any overlay setting in my g450 drivers. Why does sage change these settings (wintv and windows media player work fine) and how can I correct this. I tried with zoomplayer but that had no effect... |

I narowed the problem down to the Intervideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge. The image is only dark when I use this video decoder with overlay. If I use the default decoder, the brightness is ok, even when I use overlay. However the default setting gives me bad interlacing on all settings (bob, weave,...). So I would really like to use the hauppauge decoder in overlay mode so I have the same quality as in Win2000 from hauppauge, any suggestions?

What is the "Default" decoder you are using? Sage does not alter your video cards overlay settings but does work with the encoder settings (the ones you found). If you have a fast enough CPU try the Elecard\Dscaler combo for good deinterlacing if the Intervideo ones are a no go.

I don't know what the default is, how can you determine this?
The Elecard/Dscaler works fine; brightness & Interlacing & quality are OK So if I understand things Sage can only change the brightness of the encoder? Probably WinTv2000 changes the brightness of the Intervideo decoder so it looks fine, if only there were a way to do this in Sage or in the registry somewhere... |
