Cool Video Library. Wus-up with this ?

Still playing around with my new HTPC getting to know it. with help from this forum I just found out how to keep track of my HD space. when I find 15 gigs being used by the Video Library. I never ordered anything to be place in the Video Library. But I have tons of crap in there. some zero minutes long other up to 7 minutes long. The worst thing is I can not find away to delete it. How did it get there and how do I delete it.

thanks

As it reaches the limits you setup (Use all space, use xGB, Leave xGB free in Detal Setup) SageTV will clean up it's own garbage. You know because of tghe nature of PVR Sage records everything to the hard drive. So if you flick thu 8 channels there will be 8 files sitting out there. You can always delete them thru Windows, but I let Sage handle it.

gplasky, I think you have confused the Video library with the TV Library. I have seen this issue myself and still not sure of the exact cause. I believe I have seen some posts that indicates that Sage places files in the Video Library when it starts up and encounters files in the TV Library that it does not know where there came from. I think the garbage files mentioned by gplasky in the TV Library is known by Sage to have been created by Sage and therefore not moved into the Video Library. I have made a post in the past about the Video Library and the zero length files and got no response. Best answer I can give is to just clean up the files and hope this is corrected in 2.0

Sorry-you're right. That's what I get for answering from work. I've very rarely had files just show up there. But if it was something I didn't want I manually found the file on the hard drive and deleted it.

How do you clean up these files ? Do I Manually go to C drive Sage folder and delete them. 15 gigs of trash files is a lot of waste, when you only have a 80 gig drive from jump street.

I take it All back it's no where need 15 gigs in there. Much much smaller then that. I still would like to know why an how it's here......But I can live with it. I get bigger fish to fry right now. Like adding more HD space and working out how to add listings via XMLTV for my Grey market Canadian system.

Thanks anyway guys

Yes, just use the system file delete.

Fluffdaddy,

Not sure if this is your problem...but here is something else to check. In SageTV-->Setup-->Detailed Setup-->General, make sure your Video Directories and Library Import Directories are different. If you set the Library Import Directory to the same directory as your Video Directory, all SageTV recordings (including the small ones generated when channel surfing) will end up in the Video Library.

Also,if you set this in sage.properties, the partial files are deleted :

seeker/delete_partials_on_exit=true

If sage has no recod in the database of these files, they would have been put in a directory within your recording dir called "errant", not in the library.
