can't use samba media share

OK, I am not sure if this is a BETA issue or just something wrong in general, however, I cannot access a samba media share.

1. Yes, I have set the sagetv service control to run as a different user, said different user has read/write privilege on the samba share.
2. Yes, the sageserver is connecting as the correct user
3. The sage server can see the share
4. the sage server can map the share
5. Here is a screenshot showing that yes I have used the correct users.
6. the sage server has no trouble browsing to the share, just says invalid directory upon access.

Unless I misunderstand how this is supposed to work, I have read all the docs I can find. geez I hate asking for help. And no, I have never tried the 'release' version of sage, I am new to sage, and started with the beta as it worked better with my hdhomeruns.

Windows sageserver linux (samba) media share

And the user for the Sage service has a password and is in the adminstrator group? It has to have a password.

I'm referring to the user that runs the Sage service. That needs to have a password and be an administrator. Unless they are one and the same.

Set your security level to security = share for the samba server. Once that's done samba will let anyone in, and you can control permissions just using linux file permissions. If you want to get more advanced, take a look at the create mask and directory mask options for any particular share.

Sorry, for the OP. I am using a linux SageTV server and don't have an issue accessing the server from windows clients via unc. I am thinking there might be an issue with the smb browsing and specifying a unc path would work out too.

Yes my user that is running the linux service is an admin on the local windows box and has a password and, with that user I can mount the share just fine, browse, etc.

Security = share is not an option as my network supports a variety of users 30+ in fact, and so share style security is not an option, as I need to support a variety of different user privilege levels above and beyond what I can accomplish with unix permissions.

thanks, numa
