QAM on WinTV but not SageTV
As the title states, I can get QAM to work through The Bundled WinTV application but not through my HVR1600/SageTV bundled package. I am running the HVR-1600 #74041 with the latest drivers and SageTV v 6.2.8 latest.
Steps: 1. "Add New Source" / "Hauppauge WinTV 418 TS Capture" / "Digital TV Tuner" 2a. "Use Tuner On Capture Card To Tune Cable TV" (...tried this but scan channels never works, just runs through channels fast without tuning...) 2b. "Use Tuner On Capture Card To Tune Antenna Broadcast" (...and tried this...) 3. "Use US, Canada, or XMLTV Guide Data with the source" 4a. "Over The air" 5. "San Diego Digital Broadcast" 6. "Yes Scan for all channels now" or 4a. "Cable or Sattelite" 5. "Use Zip Postal Code 92009" 6. "Time Warner Cable Rebuild Digital Carlsbad" - this is the same EPG as my working Digital service.. should I select something else? I've tried most everything in my area 7. "Extended Basic Service" / "Yes Scan for all channels now" Have I missed something? Thanks! Last edited by DRM2PVR; 09-18-2007 at 12:19 AM. |

You need to re-map the physical QAM channels to the proper logical (guide) channels in the lineup you chose. I never got the scan to work on my lineup. For instance, if ABC-HD is offered by TWC digital on ch 601, and your QAM scan with WinTV or whatever found ABC-HD at physical channel 114.2, you would select ch 601 in your lineup, hit remap physical channel, and type in 114-0-2.
If you can't figure out the physical QAM channels in your area, check AVSforums or hookup a TV with a QAM tuner and search. I never got that damn WinTV app working, so I don't know how to get the physical channel numbers from there. |

Endymion, thank you. That was the answer to the question after I found the fix, your one step ahead of me. Also found that the Hauppage Intervideo codec outperformed my new NVidia codec. It has a smooth HD playback wehre the nVida was glitchy.
I fixed mine with the following: Steps: 1. "Add New Source" / "Hauppauge WinTV 418 TS Capture" / "Digital TV Tuner" 2. "Use Tuner On Capture Card To Tune Cable TV" 3. "Use US, Canada, or XMLTV Guide Data with the source" 4a. "Over The air" 5. "San Diego Digital Broadcast" 6. "Yes Scan for all channels now" (erasing first is a good idea , less work later) Result: (just runs through channels fast without tuning...) Having a QAM_FRQ_CACHE.ENABLE at /Program files/SageTV/SageTV/QAM_FRQ_CACHE.ENABLE can cause the tuner not to tune in any channels. This is apperent durring channel detection if its just spinning up through channels instead of a second on each one. Deleting this file fixed mine. This thread caught my eye too for those with continuing issues: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27063 Short Version: a fix for the QAM tuning bug for 6.2.7rc2 --------------------------------------------------------------------------Linux update: http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/libDVBCapture.so http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/libTSnative.so Windows update: http://download.sage.tv/users/qian/DShowCapture.dll Last edited by DRM2PVR; 09-18-2007 at 01:44 AM. |
