Sound goes Bye Bye !

Here is the setup I have.

SageTV Server - dedicated - been working fine for months.

Sage MVP Client - works great

New Sage client pc

Windows XP Pro
Nvidia 7800 AGP Video w/256mb ram
Latest Nvidia Drivers
SOYO MB with Pentium 2GHZ processor and 512mb ram.
Running AVAST A/V in the background.
All updates and service packs.
SB 16 Sound card using audio out - no SPDIF

Here is the problem, I am currently testing the unit, all works well for 30-45 minutes, then out of the blue the sound goes away. I am forced to change to another channel on the guide, and or restart the media player.

It does it both with and without the SageMC add on turned on or off.

I currently have the Video set to VMR9, Default Decoder "Nvidia Pure Video" and have tried the mpeg audio decoder set to default and or Sage MPG2 audio decoder, it doesnt matter. I have even uninstalled and re-installed Sage Client to see if it made a difference.

I am using the current version of the SageTV Client.

Any guideance would be appreciated.

THanks

Hang on - looked at the event log on my server and it is indicating some bad blocks on the HD.

Let me check into it and let you know what I find, this may be the whole problem right there.

Thanks

Okay, still have intermittant sound issues affecting both the MVP client and my windows client.

Server was upgraded to current version during HD replacement.

CLients are all current version.

Sound just drops, changing the channel brings the sound back.

If I enable debugging, do I need to do it on the server, client or both.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem occasionally. Its decoder/audio renderer related.

Try changing the audio renderer and/or audio decoder to see what happens.

I have tried using the SageTV Mpg2 Audio Decoder and the Default Encoder.

It doesnt matter which one I try, the sound plays fine for a while and then all the sudden it drops out, what is weird is if I change to another channel, the sound suddenly comes back on the channel I was watching while it changes the channels on the DirecTV STB.

Wierd I know, I am beginning to wonder if maybe I dont have a bad Nvidia DualTV card.

How do you guys have your sound setup?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
