How do we get Yellow position line through Guide?

Hi,
Would like to say we have had several weeks of great TV using SageTV 6.2.10.152. with two HDHR 20070916beta1.

We like the new animation menus.

The one thing we miss in the standard setup is unlike SageMC it doesn't have the yellow line go down the whole guide. We find the line all the way down through the guide makes it easier to find where we are at.

Is there a switch or some easy way to activate the line to go down through the marked red area, or does one need to use SageMC for it to appear.

Thanks.

The default STV has no such line, so there is nothing to enable. Currently, this would require a customization using Studio.

Thanks Andy,

Would that be a lot of work?

Maybe a pole on who would find it of use, or not?

Once again thanks for the latest release. As I stated over at SiliconDust the combination of the HDHR and latest SageTv has been great. We are not having any issues. Only use it to watch 'clear' channels from Time Warner, but at this time of year that is all we need.

I'd like to see it as well.

It's kind of surprising that it hasn't been added yet.

If you want it edit it yourself in studio it is fairly easy...
  • Go to program guide and start Studio (CTRL-SHIFT-F12)
  • Expand: LiveTVGuide.../EPG Grid/AiringTable/CurrTime=Time()/CurrTime=CurrTime.../CreateTimeSpan
  • RightClick TimeCol and Set as Primary Reference
  • RightClick TimeCol, Properties, Set FixedHeight to 1.0, OK
  • RightClick TimeCol, New Child, Panel. Name it FullHeightTimeCell.
  • RightClick FullHeightTimeCell, Properties, Set FixedWidth and FixedHeight to 1.0, OK
  • Click the Panel TimeCell, and then ctrl-shift-drag it onto the FullHeightTimeCell Panel (This moves it to be a child of the new panel)
  • Right-Click panel TimeCell, Properties, Set FixedWidth to 1.0, FixedHeight to 0.1, Select "Ignore Theme Properties", OK
  • Expand TimeCell
  • Click the If (TimeCol<=Time()) && (TimeCol ... then ctrl-shift-drag it onto the FullHeightTimeCell Panel (This moves it to be a child of that panel)
  • Click the If (TimeCol<=Time()) && (TimeCol ... again, and press CTRL-U
  • Press F6 to redraw the page
  • File-Save As (my custom STV).

(see studio screenshot1 attached)

And thats it... This draws the line 'behind' the program guide. If you mess up, CTRL-Z undoes, and File-Open SageTV3.xml gets you back to the start!

If you want the line to be drawn on top instead of underneath:
  • Click CurrTime=Time() Press CTRL-D to move it down below GetAiringsOnChannel...
  • Click the If (TimeCol<=Time()) && (TimeCol ... again, and press CTRL-D to move it down below TimeCell
  • Expand the If (TimeCol<=Time()) && (TimeCol ...
  • Right-click the CurrTimeVerticalBar child, properties, set Alpha (Opacity) to 200
  • F6
  • File-Save As.

(see studio screenshot2 attached)

A problem I found issue in using SageTV 6.3.10

A problem I found issue in using SageTV 6.3.10

The first part of instructions worked as described.

When I tried the second section of instruction to place line on top I ran into problems. The screen was blank, missing colors and in end didn't work. I tried this several times with same results. Maybe something changed in 6.3.10. Of course it could have been me.

Thanks

PS This is the only mod I did to my setup. I would love this to be standard in release. I don't like changing things as I could be introducing a problem if I do it incorrectly.

Ok now I had to get out of this mod as it messed up my Sagetv 6.3.10

All seemed well but then I noticed all but weather and one other option were available in online services. Next minute the screen is a mess with black background and frames missing. I tried this twice and it happens.

I knew I needed this as an option from the developers and not me.

Has anyone else tried this on 6.3.10 ?

Thanks.

Exclamation

A month ago I tried this mod three times and each time it wrecked my install.

Has anyone tried following the directions on the latest release?

Why is this not standard in the download. This item has had 600+ view I guess by people looking to see how to add the yellow line. If it was a feature how many users would use the search function in the forum to find a mod to remove the yellow line? Would you like this feature as standard?

My second request would be a small graph or something to tell me how my disk space is available at any time. I know I can do these mods by installing a customization but that always has issues and then you have SageTv saying its not thier fault the program is not working because you added a custiom options. I don't feel these should be custom items. Knowing your disk space seems to me to be one of the main items I need to know at a glance more so than say what my CPU is doing.

I submitted this as a request to SageTV way back but nothing. To me these simple helpful items appear more important than some of the other toys that are provided and I think seldom used by those of us just wanting a reliable home PVR.

Its the only think I liked about BTV but that’s another story isn't it..

Yes, I did, with SageTV 6.3.10, quite successfully. There were 2 methods given, but someone advised us that the second variation did not work with 6.3.10, so I followed their advice, used only the first, and it worked fine.

However, after a couple of weeks, I got tired of it and restored the original STV. It is just too in-your-face, and I decided I prefer just the yellow indicator at the top.

I wouldn't put too much significance in the thread view count. I don't believe forums keep a list of all the users who have viewed a topic, attached to every single topic. It is almost certainly a simple counter that increases every time the page is viewed, which means multiple times per individual viewer. I imagine each time a post is added, the count will increase by 30 to 70 views, by the same group of people.

As to disk space monitoring, I believe most users use the disk free space bar graph, that comes (if I recall correctly) with the hidden extras built into SageTV. I turned it off on my system, as I found it too CPU-intensive in spikes for my old, slow, memory-limited machine.
