Tired of the basic renderers

I THINK I have an issue with one or both of the renderers I am using in sagetv. I have NVidia, NVidia Post Processor, SageTV in my list of renderers. I am having an issue with HDHR (which is a post in the hardware section) and I THINK it is related to my renderer.

My question in THIS post is not related to HDHR but rather the renderers.

Is there a way to "re-install" JUST the renderers, or upgrade to a newer version of them? As far as I can tell they came with SageTV (I am using the latest verision of sage).

Aside from re-installing (I just rebuilt this whole system 3 weeks ago), are there others out there that I might try? I am very unhappy with the quality of SD tv on my 50" screen. I know all SD will look poor on a 50" HD tv but I gotta think I can do better. I am using the SVID input on my tuners from my STBs so I got the best input possible for SD tv.

Should I try FFDShow? is it better than the ones I listed?

How about the NVIDIA Purevideo, or NVidia Purevideo HD? The NVidia site makes them sound like the second coming, but don't you need an 8xxx series vid card to use them? I have a 7600GT vid card which has enough juice, but I don't think does a lot with vid quality. Should I fork over $150 for a 8600GT and the $100 for Purevideo HD?

Those are actually decoders you are talking about. The renderer is actually DirectX7, Overlay, or DirectX9.

the nVidia decoders aren't installed with Sage. It was a separate install that you needed to do. You should be able to go into Add/Remove programs and uninstall the nVidia decoder. then reinstall if you wanted to.

So does anyone know about my questions of FFDShow and Purevideo. I solved my issues with HDHR but would still like better vid quality and think a better decoder is the way to go.

If you have Nvidia decoders in your list of decoder options, then you already have PureVideo.
