Program guide not changing channels
HI, I am new to SageTV and the whole video capture thing, so sorry if my question is stupid. I have a Phillips Cap713X capture card with the latest SageTV software. Everything seems to work so far, but if I bring up the program guide with my mouse and change the channel by clicking on the program it is not changing the channel. Also if I setup a scheduled recording it is not switching to the specified channel. What am I doing wrong? I can change the channel with my DirectTV remote but that does not change the channel in SageTV. Is there something I need to link my card with DirectTV box so that SageTV can change channels?
Thanks for any help in advance. |

So, you've got your DirecTV box connected to your capture card, right? It sounds like you have no method for SageTV to change the channel on the box, via something like an IR blaster or serial cable. If this is the case, see this recent thread on the same topic. You can probably ignore the parts about a Sony IR device, but there are some posts covering methods to change the channel on the STB.

Thanks for the reply Andy.
I have a D10 STB. It does not have a serial port or a USB port. All it has is a low speed data port (looks like a small phone jack), not sure if that can be used. So I guess I have to use that IR blaster thing. Unfortunately I didn't plan on spending another $55, I wish I would have known that upfront. Is there a more affordable ir blaster than USB-UIRT? Or does that work the best? Thanks again |

The USB-UIRT is the most versatile one that I know about.
If you can't use a serial connection, then may you could get the MCE remote + blaster to work -- while it costs a little bit less than a USB-UIRT, its blaster isn't natively supported by SageTV. Check some of the sticky topics at the top of the hardware forum for info on using it. - Andy
