Vista UAC and video jerkiness?

Jerkiness is such a funny word.

Anyway, I have dual hauppauge 1600 tuners and I am trying to record HDTV. However, if we watch a previously recorded show while recording HD, the one recording ends up with pixelation and jerkiness when we play it back. Hauppauge has suggested that if I turn of UAC in Vista, it may improve. Can anyone tell me how that might be true? I have also seen elsewhere people suggesting that UAC is evil for Sage or MCE. What do I gain by turning it off? Not sure I completelyl understand the UAC concept anyway ...
Thanks!

All UAC does is warn you when a program tries to modify the registry. It will pause most processes until you click the Continue button. I don't see how disabling it would result in smoother video playback. I do recommend, however, that you disable UAC. It fixes a ton of compatibility problems between older software and Vista.
