File Naming
Hi- Does anyone know if there is a way to change the default file naming for recordings -- IE make it include the date in the file name or anything to provide more information then the name and the random/sequential #?

No, there is only an option for whether the filename includes the episode name. (And, don't remove that ID number because it is how SageTV matches the recording to its airing info.)
