No picture w/sound when windows on other screen are maximized!!

This is an unavoidable question because it doesn't seem like a searchable topic. Well at least to me.

I have a monitor (primary) and TV (secondary) on an ATI radeon 9600 where the TV has to be a forced detection. I run sagetv on the TV. When I have maximized programs on my monitor and try to run live tv or a recording on my tv all I get is the background color of the desktop, but I do have sound. If any visible window is not maximized then I can see the picture w/sound only when I first load video. I can have all programs minimized or even restore to a smaller window and it works, but once again only when I first load video.

It's almost if a window is maximized then it is in sagetv's way. But when i minimized those windows, while sagetv has video playing, it doesn't fix the problem.

I didn't know if this had something to do with sagetv or my video card, but I put it in the hardware section because chances are it is my video card. My radeon 9200 did not do this.

I am guessing this is not a common problem.

I did notice however when I played a Sopranos DVD last night it worked right!
