Possible to play HD-DVDs from Harddisk

Hello,

itīs possible to play a ripped HDDVD in Sage.tv? I have ripped one and wants to play it in Sage (on Server) but these folder doesnīt exists in my MediaCenter or in the DVD overview? Also in on my TV (MVP) it doesnīt show me the folder.

must i change some config for this? I have CyberLink PowerDVD Ultra on my Server, an direktly playing from my HDDVD-Player works.

Or i need the new HD extender to play these HD Content on my TV.

I hope someone can help me with these issue ?!?
THX

Not as is, SageTV doesn't understand the logical structure of an HD DVD (or a BD). As far as I know, no Dshow player can play "HD DVD"s.

Hi Stanger,

ok, thanks for your input.
so i can see, itīs not a general problem, but the "problem" from sage.
i think, the normal dvd handling must also programming in the past, so this feature of playing, or transfering the data to the media extender, must developed?!

i wants to have this feature, but i wonīt have hd, or br-player next to the tv. somebody else are interested? so perhaps we can raise this wish to sage, because even more hd-disks are sold in shops.

It's a general problem.
Sage uses windows' DShow filters to understand the DVD filestructure, and these do not exist for HD DVD or BD.

(Notice that Windows MCE, Windows Media Player, media portal, etc cannot play them internally either).

The only solution so far is to run Power DVD (this can probably be made to happen automatically using plugins)

This base on my own HD content. I worked for a production company that films in nothing but 1080P for certain events in Canada.

take evo files that already on your harddrive, wrap them with a mkv container and then use Sonic audio decoder with Cyberlink video HD decoders (you have to play with the decoder merits to make the sonic audio is the default when playing these filesin order to get the sound, and then set sage to use directshow default decoders and you will be able to play 1080P VC-1 or H.264 content with DD+ audio within sage.

Cyberlink for video and Sonic for my DD+ for my needs, and plays fine on my sage client. But for laugh I tried to play it on my SD MVP and the transcoder.exe on the server puked its guts all over case and I had to reboot it.

The problem with that solution is getting a hold of the Sonic decoder. Sonic only makes it available as part of Scenarist, which is, well, not cheap.

It is possible (and not very hard) to convert a ripped HD DVD to an MKV with DD audio, and Sage can play that.
