Directv Serial Control And TV Translator (With A H20-100)
Hey there,
I'm having some trouble getting the directv serial control through sage working. I'm using the patterson tech tv translator through a usb to serial adaptor. According to the patterson config utility, it connects just fine. However, sage cannot change any of the channels. Furthermore, I've tried the independent serial control program, and while that doesn't register channel changes either, I am able to turn the STB on and off with it. I'm kinda at a loss for what to do. I've tried setting the tv translator into H20 mode, and that doesn't help anything. The STB is a H20-100 and from what I've been told, you only need H20 mode for the H20-600. Either way, no dice. With the config utility telling me that it connects just fine, and with me turning the receiver on and off through the directv serial control program, I feel like the signal is getting through, just perhaps not being recognized for some reason. Either by way of the wrong signal or otherwise. Anyone with any ideas on this? It's getting annoying. |

I usually don't like to bump my own threads, but seeing as it's been a few days...
No one has any ideas? Any place to point me? Anything? |

As I recall you had to lock the baud rate at 9600 baud otherwise it wouldn't register a lot of commands.
I had a lot of issues initially with it, I did finally figure it out and it worked well when I had them. |

try this:
Add registry option to use fast channel changing method with DTVSerial (create as a DWORD and set to 1 to enable): HKLM\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\SageTV\DirecTVSerialFastChannelChanges it fixed my issue with an H20-600

sorry to resurrect an old thread - but I'm in the same spot as sakker - new H20-100 and Sage can't change channels. The patterson software can change it fine (using their test) but not Sage.
Anybody figure out how to make Sage change channels using the USB port on the H20-100? <EDIT: Wow! I added the registry key as a last ditch attempt (I was nervous since it mentioned H20-600 which I know is different) - and it worked! Hopefully this helps someone else > Last edited by BFisher; 04-26-2008 at 04:27 PM. |

Is there any way to add this setting in Linux? I am having some issues with my H20 and I would like to try this fix out.
