Video issues on new TV
I just upgraded my TV from a 27" Panasonic CRT to a Samsung LN-T4671f LCD and the picture quality has greatly decreased (everything is greatly pixelated and chunky looking). I know increasing the size of the TV using SD the pixleation is going to be more visible but this is crazy. I used to have the PC client connected with s-video.(and the picture looked pretty good) Now I have the PC client connected with HDMI to DVI. The HDMI port supports connections to a PC and I see the full desktop, even with the resolution changed from 800x600 to 1920x1080. I'm still using all the same audio/video settings in Sage (Nvidia decoder etc.) On the settings for the video card (Geforce 6150) I tried allowing the TV to do the scaling but it always defaulted back to the video card handles the scaling. When I have my Dish 322 STB connected directly to the new TV via composite the picture looks much better (for composite) Any ideas? THANX!

There are a few things that could be causing your problem. If you can answer a few questions, we can narrow it down...
- What do you have your recording quality set to? - How does the UI look on the new TV? Is it only video files that look bad? - What type of capture card are you using? -Dan |

"What do you have your recording quality set to?"
I think its "best" its the second to the highest setting "How does the UI look on the new TV? Is it only video files that look bad?" The UI looks awsome. Its just video files. Live TV and previously recorded. "What type of capture card are you using?" In my server I have a Nvidia Dual TV(each tuner conected to a seperate Dish 322 via s-video) and a ATI 550 (connected via s-video to a Dish 311) |

Do DVDs yield the same result? (IE: degraded image quality coming only from tuner card?)
Do you see the same thing in different software like WMP, windvd, ect..? |

"Do DVDs yield the same result? (IE: degraded image quality coming only from tuner card?)
Do you see the same thing in different software like WMP, windvd, ect..?" I will check. What is odd is the only thing that has changed is the TV/TV size and the resolution (800x600 to 1920x1080) everything else has stayed the same. (Sage settings etc.) Everything was working well before... |

Welcome to the world of real digital TV. I have a 32 inch plasma after using a 27 inch CRT and my picture has always looked like crap on the plasma. Never could clear it up to be watchable.
I use my Plasma for watching my upconverted DVD's and my CRT for SageTV and Video recordings which look great.

Do you see the same thing in different software like WMP, windvd, ect..?" Yep DVDs look great! "Welcome to the world of real digital TV. When I connect the Dish 322 directly to the TV via composite (the worst possible connection) it looks better than the video quality I'm seeing in Sage. |

hmm. have you tried using different video decoders? I know you mentioned you are using the nvidia decoders and those should be fine but you might want to try others just to rule that out.
unfortunately thats all i got. good luck. Juc
