antec nsk2480 - case fan question

A question to those of you who own the antec nsk2480 case, are the dual fans on the side used to suck air INTO the case or blow air OUT of the case???

I have a Ninja mini cooler installed on the cpu and it just seems like it would work better if the case fans were blowing air across the cooler rather than suck air across them. I'm worried they may be installed backward?

Also, did anyone else have problems installing the pvr-250 cards in the pci slots? For the life of me, I couldn't get the bottom tabs to go through the small slot on the bottom of the case. I ended up having to uncrew the hangars from the pci cards - which unnerves me a little...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had been thinking about building a new client using an earlier version of that case (but opted to wait for the HD media extender instead). AFAIK, the side fans should blow out of the case, bringing cooler air through all the venting.

Here is a link to an earlier, similar model that should make it clearer.

Hope that helps.

In general, case cooling works on principles of heat dissipation, rather than cooling via air flow. In other words, most fans are placed to draw heat away from CPU's/GPU's (and usually out of the case altogether), rather than supplying colder air.

Think about it this way: if your CPU fan is blowing hot air away from the CPU, and you had a fan blowing more air toward the CPU fan, the two air drafts would collide, creating a pocket (much akin to a storm front) of stale air directly above your CPU.

As for loosening the hangers, I had a similar problem with my Antec case and the Hauppauge PVR-150 card; I bent the hanger to make it fit. As long as the card is seated properly, it should be OK.

I run the Antec NSK-2400 with the 2 fans mounted blowing out, with the 2 fans on the lowest setting, my cpu never goes above 60c. I am running a Thermalright SI-128 passive on an AMD 3800 x2 65w AM2 cpu.....
