Sage Recorder 2?
There is to be a Sage TV 2.
So, is there plans to make a Sage Recorder 2 as well or is it's current incarnation it's last? |

The current version of SageRecorder will most likely be broken into two pieces.
1. A new SageRecorder version based off of SageTV V2 with roughly the same functionality as the current version of SageRecorder 2. A new "Network Encoding" application with limited functionality specific only to network encoding. At this time this is all we've defined and we'll make any announcements when they become available to all current SageRecorder customers.

Thanks for the quick reply Dan. I suppose it's too early to say if this will be a chargeable update over SR1?

I'm pretty sure that 99.99999% of the people purchased sage recorder for its network encoder functionality, so im sure that they will take that in consideration.

For my circumstances, neither Recorder or TV 100% fitted the bill. Sage TV was a little too large and complex for what I had in mind and Sage TV was a little too basic !!
I'm hoping both of them will have settings to allow more adjustment and 'tayloring' of functions. We can't use the epg fully here in the UK unless we use XMLTV data which hasn't always been a completely satisfying route to setup and maintain, so a large chunk of Sage TV would of sat unused. Sage Recorde was a bit of a swing in the opposite direction but was the best at the time (and still is currently, but JovePlayer for my XCard is making leaps and bounds in the PVR department). I'm hoping for the future that either Sage Recorder has some stream ability or network encoding options, bugs fixed, more adjustable UI and more intuitive usage for the Scheduler etc. and the possibility to control it externally. OR Sage TV2/Studio to be able to adjust down to my level, or the XMLTV to integrate better than it has done in the past. The UI to be much more adjustable, more intuitive and a little faster. Again, including network encoding and streaming etc. Don't get me wrong, I still use Sage Recorder on a daily basis, but I get a little frustrated waiting to be able to have the video machine in the lounge in a 'finished state'. My XCard and ProVideo have (finally) proved themselves to be a fantastic combination and are used daily. JovePlayer has elevated the XCard to something incredible in my opinion and I'm sure that Sage TV/Rec will do the same for my ProVideo encoder, but sadly I'm just not 'feeling the buzz' with it as I am with the Xcard software improvements right now. Sage Recorder users can be forgiven for thinking they are forgotten as there is always news on Sage TV2/Studio and always things happening on the forum, but the Sage Recorder threads and news items have been more or less dead for sometime. I'm just trying to get some idea of where to go in the future with the software on my machine. Should I 'hang tight' or look elsewhere etc.? Any news is better than no news. |
