High CPU use on server, while live playback of R5000.
I recently got a VIP211-R5000, before even messing with the mpeg4/h.264 I am having trouble playing back mpeg2 on my PC Clients.
If I make a recording with the R5000 Mpeg2, or Mpeg4 I can play them back with little CPU use on my Client PC and Server PC (<10-15%). I can play the Mpeg2 recordings perfectly from Sagetv after they are recorded. But If I tune a live channel on the R5000 say any mpeg2 HD channel, the cpu usage on my server spikes up to around 40-50%, then gradually goes up to 100% over about a minute or two.. Once it reaches 100% then all playbacks studder. The cpu usage on my client is normal. This only happens on live recordings, and from the R5000-Vip211. I can play HD live recordings from HDHR with almost no cpu usage on the server. Additionally, I have a HD-100 Extender and it can play Mpeg2, and Mpeg4 live from the R5000 with no raising cpu usage problems. Using Sage Server 1.3.5, Sage Client 1.3.5, Nvidia Video Decoder, CoreAVC If anyone knows the trick to get mpeg4/h.264 channels working in sage that would be helpful too, I got them working fine outside of sage with Media Player Classic. But sage has video filter error. MPEG4 set on DirectShow |

Ok found out the 100% usage problem was due to UNC paths... and R5000 somehow not working together.
I got mpeg4 working with powerdvd 7.3 codec in sagetv but it plays smooth for 15sec then jerks for a while then plays for a few seconds then jerks etc. |
