Any problems updating to 6.3?

Hi. Has anyone got problems when updating to sageTV v.6.3? I have 6.1.9 and on top of it have installed some customizations, such as the FMradio plugin, the XMLTVImportPlugin, and the custom menus plugin. Am I supposed to just install the new ver on top of the old one? Or I have to do something else in order for all the plugins to work with 6.3?

Thanks,

I'm not 100% sure but firstly I'd make a backup of your Sage folder then just install the update for 6.3.
You will have to re-enable all your customizations but they should all continue to work. If it all goes wrong then just copy the backup into the original directory and overwrite any files, you will then be back to your original version of Sage.

Install over top of your existing setup. (Back up first, obviously.) This will reset the UI to the (new) stock STV. Then re-import your add-ons. It's possible that not all of them will import correctly if something they depend on changed in 6.3. Check with the add-on authors for updates.

Note also that menu animations are enabled by default in 6.3. If you have an older graphics card with 64 MB or less of video memory, you may have problems with the animations. Go into Detailed Setup to turn them off in that case.

Thanks for the reply.

One more thing: Is there a list of the now installed plugins somewhere in Sage (or its config file)? I am embarassed to say I have not kept notes!

Thank you.

Not as such, no. If you have any Java plugins that run in the background, they should be listed under load_at_startup_runnable_classes in your .properties file.

Imported STVIs (UI mods) are not recorded in any master list by Sage, but they may take it on themselves to add comments to the STV file documenting the fact that they've been imported (but not in any standardized way).

If you're desperate, you could try using Studio to compare your current STV with the stock 6.1.9 STV to see what's been changed, and then try to figure out from that which STVIs made those changes. (Press Ctrl+Shift+F12 to open Studio, choose Tools > STV File Difference from the menu, and point it to SageTV3.xml.) But this may not be very enlightening if you've never seen Studio before.

You could also look on your disk to see what .stvi files you have lying around (assuming you didn't delete them after importing).

If your gettting ready to do this now I would suggest using the STVi importer utility. It then makes alll subsequent upgrades truly painless for STVi plugins.
