ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner

I have only been a Sage user for a few months, but like everyone else I find the limitations for geting HD into Sage frustrating. I may be able to get one of the ATI TV Wonder™ Digital Cable Tuner and I was wondering what people thought on the forum about my odds of getting it to work. I have seen a lot of postings about it only running on Windows Vista and even that has to be a custom build of Vista. Aparently though the device is USB, it won't even connect to the computer unless the motherboard bios has a certain setting to allow the installation.

There are some posts talking about the configuration being so unique that the specialists had to remote into the machine to get the configuration working...

In either case, I think I can push the issue and get one of the tuners sent out here. Anyone have any ideas what I should expect if I do get one?

Quite simple. Expect it to have a power light, and that's it. Unfortunately, you are not going to be able to use it with anything, unless you have the certified motherboard, and special version of Vista with an additional key. Even so, it will only record for Vista Media Center. After nearly a year of being out, nothing has come out even remotely resembling a hack to make it work with other software, hardware etc.....

A slight variation on the question... with what's on the horizon, what is the most promising options for more complete HDTV into SageTV (something like the huge collection of HD in DirecTV now)?

Hauppauge plans by the end of Q1 to come out with a Component HD capture device which will be USB based. This means, and was hinted at in this thread (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29780) that we will be able to record High Definition over component in the clear with SageTV. Any Device which puts out HD over Component up to 1080i will be recordable by this device. This eliminates the need for the ATI you are talking about in this thread.
