Can MVP point to a specific Sage Server?

Back in the day when the MVP was first supported natively, I recall myself and a few others asking if this was possible and I vaguely recall it would be in the near future. That was over a year ago though and I only recently upgraded from 5.04 and am still discovering the new features. It would be nice to know if I can edit an MVP's property file to force it to connect to a specific server. Does someone know?

seems to me when it boots up it searches for all the servers and you can tell it which is the default server.

Don't hold me to it... I don't use this function. Just working from memory

Depends on the version of the MVP.

Newer MVPs have more flash inside them and contain a separate boot loader. It first detects any server running the tftp (sage servers) and lists them. You can choose which you want the MVP to connect to and then "save" the settings on the MVP. It will then continue to use the selected server unless you "hit ok in 3 seconds to enter setup" (Note, you have to unplug the MVP to get to this screen on boot).

The older MVPs use the first server it finds. There is no option to choose.

Off the top of my head I cannot tell you which firmware version does what, but you can tell on boot if you unplug the unit and start from scratch. If you get the option to press OK in 3 seconds, you have the newer version. If not, then you have the old one

The MVP unit I have that uses the newer firmware also has a digital audio out, whereas the older MVP with the old firmware does not, if that helps.
