Help with Linking IR to Sage

Hi all,

I've had the following combo working fine for the last year and a half or so and all of a sudden last night the ability to control Sage via the IR remote went down the toilet.

USB-UIRT, USB-UIRT driver 1.4, SageTV vs 4, and a MX-500 remote.

The first thing I noticed was that I couldn't start and stop the recording I was watching. Thought maybe the batteries were low on the remote so I changed them. Same behavior with new batts.

Then decided to see if I could teach Sage the commands again. This is where things get a bit weird. I can seemingly teach Sage commands, but if I move on to another command the previous command gets changed to the one I'm currently teaching. At the same time I'm not able to teach each command, only about 30% of the ones I "train" are retained. Those few that can train then work properly.

I'm thinking something got corrupted somewhere. Any ideas on what to try or where to look?

Thanks in advance,

Al

No replies?

Okay, so if it's not a known problem does anyone have any idea as to whether or not an upgrade to the latest Sage will fix my problem?

Sometimes when batteries go down or dead in a universal remote the code gets changed. Another issue could be that you have switched the universal remote from say the TV setting to the DVD or another setting. I have found that I simply need to reprogram the code for the universal remote every now and then (TV, VCR, DVD, or whichever is selected).

Thanks for the reply Mike. I don't think the remote was the problem, but I really have no idea what was going on. At the moment everything is working as it should and I didn't do anything other than make repeated attempts at teaching Sage what the remote commands should do.

I suspect some sort of glitch in Sage, but have no way to determining really was going on. Mysterious...

Thanks again for the suggestion.

Al
