Wired MVP stuck on black screen
Need help.
I moved my server from one room to another and my wired MVP stopped working. It loads to a black screen. I upgraded to 6.3 with no improvement. I rebooted the server PC with no improvement. I deleted the clients directly with no improvement (note no new clients directory is generated) and unpowered (for 15 minutes or more) the MVP with no improvement. The MVP does get an IP assigned I am not running a firewall. Any suggestions? |

Did you test the MVP with the software that comes with the MVP? Turn off SageTV, including the services when testing with the Hauppauge software. If the MVP still does not work, there aren't any ports blocked. and the network connection is good, then the MVP is probably bad. You might also test with another network connection.
I had to return one of my MVP's shortly after ordering it for repair or replacement to Hauppage when the MVP could not boot up. If the Hauppauge MVP software works, then there is probably a problem with the SageTV configuration. I periodically take disk images to help resolve SageTV problems quickly. If SageTV breaks, I recover the computer back to when SageTV was working. Dave |

Its not the MVP...
Thanks for the suggestion Davephan, but the issue seems pretty clear to not be the MVP. I moved the server PC back to where it was originally and it worked again just fine and my old D-Link media streamer works equally well (or poorly) in either spot, so it shouldn't be the network connection in the second room either.
My theory remains that the MVP is somehow confused about where the stream is coming from. Any other suggestions out there regarding how I can get this fixed? -RS |
