Sage loses live TV display, have to reboot
Hello all,
Just started with Sage a month or so ago, and now that I got it working the way I wanted, like any other piece of software I start mucking with the settings to see if I can get it better. I think I've hosed myself and could use some helps since I don;t know Sage well enough to figure out how to troubleshoot. My Specs: Athlon X2 4000+, Vista, capture card is AverCombo PCIe. Sage version 6.3.6b with SageMC, Java 1.6. Tuning clearQAM straight from the wall and using the svideo in to take output from the Moto DCT3416 STB - my provider is armstrong calbe which is basically a Comcast knockoff. As far as I know all drivers are updated since I only built the thing a month ago, and this was working previously with the same drivers. Here's the best description I have to reproduce. I start Sage, go to Live or recorded tv. The channel displays in the time I'm used to for Sage to tune, but each additional channel change, pause, switch to a different channel or recorded video, it takes progressively longer and longer to display the video until eventually it simply hangs Sage. When it hangs Sage I can ctrl-alt-del and end the task, but interestingly the process stays active and cannot be killed. I have to reboot to clear it. My suspicion is that this is a setting I changed related to the On screen display, since if I go in to channel set up and hit View to change channels that way, I don't get this problem. I've also tried switching back to the default from SageMC and that doesn't seem to help. But like I said, I don't know enough about the detailed setup to know what might be affecting this or how to undo it. Any thoughts? |

My Sage setup needs a high quality signal to properly tune HD channels. I bought a Radio Shack cable amp/splitter, and then I was always losing channels, although it didn't cause Sage to hang. I took the amp/splitter out of the signal path, and all is well now.
I still use a nice Motorola amp where the cable comes into the house: http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-48409.../dp/B000066E6Y Maybe having a second amp in the circuit was too much. This is the Radio Shack model I tried: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...uctId=2103093&

I should mention - this isn't HD channels specifically. signal from the clearqam hd and sd as well as signal from the svideo connection to the stb cause this - that's why I think it's an application setting rather than the video feed.
