Your Opinion: Should I upgrade to 2gb of ram?

Currently I run the system in my sig (linky). It uses 2 512mb matched modules for 1gb total. I was wondering if it would be worth it, in your opinion, to upgrade to 2 1gb matched modules for 2gb total?

I have my eye on this: Patriot 2gb Kit

The only things running on the machine are SageTV (full time with service), and ZoomPlayer Pro5 (most of the time it may be closed out, however I wish to leave it running until needed).

I have removed some unwanted XPpro services and have cleared out other garbage programs that start during boot. Also have run bootvis, so it is a fairly clean running machine.

So, your feedback? Would I see any increase in performance, or simply be a total waste of money?

IMHO 1G is plenty. Maybe in 5 more releases of the software it will need more memory, but not now.

Take that money and buy a MVP with license

I have thought about doing the same thing as well but several things are stopping me.
1. Everything is runniing fine. (if it aint broke..........)
2. I really dont want to invest in any more DDR memory that I wont use in the next upgrade cycle.
I did replace my single core 3200+ with a dual core 4200+ a while back and that helped with multiple streaming and comskipping without hiccups. That was worth spending $70 on but will be the last upgrade for my socket 939 platform.

After running a while, bring up Task Manager, click the Performance tab, and look at the Peak Commit Charge in the lower left corner. If that number is smaller than your installed RAM, adding more won't accomplish much. Any excess will be used for disk caching of random-access files, but since Sage does mostly sequential access of files that are too big to cache effectively, I wouldn't expect a bigger disk cache to improve Sage performance noticeably.
