I have done something which seems to have stopped the crashes (no crash in 48 hrs, used to be 2 or 3 a day before).

I've set the server PC IP as static, which in turn made the HD100 automatically pick a static IP as well (the Network Config option on the HD100 is now set to static, with all the details completed - I did not change anything in there). As a result, my server box no longer produces any Tcpip error messages (in Windows logs) saying that there has been an IP conflict on the system.

I will keep everyone posted if the crashes come back of this fixed it for good.

My exact problem, too. I disabled the screensaver and that seemed to help for a bit, but no luck. At first I thought maybe my TV wasn having problems w/ the HDMI input so I switched to component. Basically, whenever I turn off the TV for night, chances are when I turn it back on I will only have a dark screen.

Sigh; this is keeping me from getting more boxes for the rest of the house.

Hmm, my static IP settings seemed to have fixed the issue for me. No crashes in a week.

Sometimes these "new-fangled" automatic configurations don't work as well.

I'm a new sagetv/extender user and I've had nothing but problems. After I thought I had everything working now my extender is giving me trouble also.

I set up tversity with my ps3 in about 5 minutes. Although I can't do nearly as much it at least works.

I'm probably going to be charged a restocking fee because I want to return this buggy unfinished device.

I will have random lock ups and have to reboot the extender. Or on occasion I will get constant pauses on the video I am trying to playback.

I'm using 64kb blocks. The extender is wired with a gigabit router and I make sure sage tv is the only thing going and I still get these issues.

The same videos will play fine over a wireless connection to my ps3 with tversity.

What version of Java, SageTV, and Firmware are you running? Have you turned off the ability of the server to power down the network card?

I have the latest version of java and latest beta sagetv/extender software.

I have not tried that option. Do you think it could make a difference?

That setting resolved many of my issues. Are you using static IP addresses?

By the way, it's also a good idea to give specific version numbers rather than "the latest". Somebody might read this some time from now and it is confusing when you don't know the exact release dates of the versions to figure out what version combinations have the problems.

SageTV_V6_4_4

Extender 20080604 0

Assigned static ip to extender. Also disabled ability to power down the lan card.
Same results. Video plays fine on server but I get constant pauses/lock ups on extender.

I assume that your server also has a static IP. Do you have more than one version of Java installed by chance?

It appears to be a problem playing back ogm files on the extender. Its weird because they play just fine with the sage software on the server.

I haven't did any extended testing to see if I still get random lock ups for dvd's and other formats. Even so I wonder about compatibility of future file formats for the extender.

Not having blu ray playback without conversion is also a let down. Maybe that is asking a lot for the extender but a htpc would be more compatible.

That makes more sense. I would think that support for new formats might be added with firmware updates. I don't know how many people around here use ogm files, but I know that I certainly haven't tried.

Send a message via ICQ to _Demo_
Please try the latest beta firmware 20080707-0 and report if you still have lockup problems.

Thanks

I'm using 20080710 0 and now I'm finally enjoying my purchase but there is still a few minor issues.

ogm files still do not seem to be supported.
There is a slight pause at the start of playback on video.
h264 files still do not play quite as smooth as I would like them to but at least they dont seem to lock up the extender.

I upgraded to 6.4.5 at the same time and my hdhr stopped working so I'm now back to 6.4.4

I am happy now. SageTV/hardware still seems like a big beta product but hopefully they can keep improving because a lot of new people can be turned away by these issues.

This is not normal - I see no pause at the start of playback using my HD100

H.264 files play back perfectly on the HD100 for me and many others - matter of fact the HD100 seems to handle the h.264 files better than my more powerful HTPC client PC.

I wonder if I was writing something to the hard drive at that time because everything seems fine now. Apologies for the false alarm.

I hope there are no issues using 6.4.4 (it actually says 6.4.5 required) with the 20080710 0 firmware. As I said earlier my hdhr does not work with 6.4.5

It turns out that my problem was associated with my HDMI switching receiver. I have no idea what the problem is or was, but when I removed it from between the HD Extender and the TV, I no longer get lockups. My lockup may be different than others...basically the screen would go blank when going from the UI to a recorded show, but I would continue to get audio. If I stopped playback, the UI would not come back until I did a hard restart with the power switch on the back of the unit..

The only problem I have now is that I continue to get audio through the HDMI connection to the TV even though I have only selected optical as the audio output in the setup menu.
