Need help getting started with Studio

Guys,
I've been thinking about "getting my feet wet" with Studio coming from zero knowledge of programming, but a good understanding of command line and HTPC's in general.

I've made my own little external program using cli mostly based off of a cli program made by a guy on the Snapstream forums as well as some cli code from cayers on these forums. The command-line basically takes a DVD in the drive and rips it using dvddecrypter and then shrinks it. It runs off of a menu item on SageTV and all the programs run behind the scenes without stealing focus from SageTV. When finished it ejects the DVD from the drive and I have my purchased movie in my movies folder ready to be viewed from any of my SageTV clients.

Here is what I need advice on. The default name is to use the DVD name, but I would like for it to display that name on the SageTV screen, and give the user an opportunity to change that name using their remote control or a keyboard. After that, the user could press enter to continue and it goes about its business placing the movie on the server.

Is this something I could learn to do using Studio? Or is it more complicated then I'm thinking?

Any advice on things I should read up on, play around with first before I attempt to tackle this project?

I think the difficult parts would be responding to the DVD insertion and getting the default name of the DVD within Sage. Otherwise, allowing the user to change the name and running command line programs is easy.

The Studio documentation is very good and there are some tutorials in there to get you started.
