Isolating channels to certain cards
My scenerio is that I have 4 cards. 3 of these cards seem to be better than the 4th. The 4th gets quite a bit of static on the very low channels. After much troubleshooting, Ive just come to the conclusion that the card just has poor insulation and cannot be fixed.
Now! I believe that the functionality used to be there in 1.4, where I could setup this card and just leave these low channels out of its "range". This way, I could still use this card on every channel but the first five in the lineup. In V2. I do not see any option on changing the lineups independently. If you change "Comcast Concord" on a particular card...Its changed across the board. Is this correct? Am I missing the hidden setting? so put it in a visual what I am looking for: card #1 - 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9-100 card #2 - 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9-100 card #3 - 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9-100 card #4 - 6,7,8,9-100 (the problem child) There are other undescribed uses for segmenting your cards out like this, but I will not waste your time with scenerios ![]() I.

Give this a try:
Go into Setup Wizard, Select the desired card, select Channel Setup. I only have one card, so I can't really try, but that seems logical. |

Tried it...It changes the entire lineup unfortunately.

Similarly, I have a lineup that shows HBO channels 4 and 550. Since I'm going through a digital cable box, I get HBO on 550 but not on 4. Sage will not allow me to add 550 to the lineup. When I add 550, 4 shows up, when I add 4, 4 shows up. When neither are added, it's not present. I've bugged this, but thought I'd post since it's related to your issue. It seems any guide data that has two channels associated with it will only choose the first channel.

You should be able to re-map 4 to 550 (sounded like you were describing something different).

The lineup as it comes from sage includes both channels, but I want to receive this channel on 550 while ignoring 4 (since in my case I don't get it on 4..) and it seems to not allow me. If anyone is truly curious, set up a atuner with zip 60090 and choose comcast digital, you'll see HBO in the channel listing on both 4 and 550, but it's impossible to list 550 in the guide while not listing 4. Like I said, I've bugged all this, just thought since it was similar I'd post it here for completeness sake.

I don't think I had this problem in 1.4, but I'm not certain.

What i meant was, the old multi line up xml plugin, used in 1.4, I use it with V2 as well it works ok

Or does your cable provider have a channel lineup that is a superset of your current lineup? You could use that for your problem card and remove the channels you don't receive and the ones that don't get good enough reception.
You might also try playing with the encoder_merit setting in the properties file. If I understand it properly, it will allow you to determine which source/card is selected first when multiple are free. If you don't find a way to eliminate the bad channels on the misbehaving card you could make it be selected last. If you are able to eliminate those channels, you could have it be selected first (or second or something) so that you don't get in a situation where you are using your other three cards for stations that all three get and then need to record a one of the lower channels and not have an available tuner for it. I know with my Comcast I use the extended instead of digital. With that I get HBO on 5 but not on 300. I also get Cinemax on 22.

I thought the XML plugin didn't give as many details (show info, first run/rerun, etc..) If that's true, it might not be so desirable.

I would not know anything different from the XML epg, but here in the UK I use the radio times grabber which has a fair amount of data, I guess you could try it and see. Dan |
