Quick and Simple Placeshifter Question

Sorry for the nuB question, but the SageTV website isn't very informative about this.

Do I need to install any software on the remote PC if I want to use Placeshifter to set up a new recording on my SageTV Server? Or, is any Internet-capable browser sufficient? I don't ever plan on watching video remotely, just control my SageTV Server remotely.

Thanks!

AzJazz

You would at least need Java and Placeshifter installed.

Placeshifter does not use a browser -- you can use nielm's webserver in a browser, though.

Thanks, Andy - nielm's webserver plug-in is great! That's just what I needed ...

You don't actually need them installed on the host computer. You can install them on your server, copy the installation folders to a USB stick, and then run Placeshifter from the stick on any Windows machine.

No, you can carry a JRE on the stick and Placeshifter can use that if you set up the directories properly.
