help
I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but here goes. I want to make a SageTV exclusive box. It will run off of digital cable. Can someone tell me all of the software, hardware I need. Also, a few questions.
1. Can I record 2 shows at once off of digital cable? 2. Does SageTV support commercial skipping, or even do it automatically? 3. Can a system built for dig cable be switched to satellite? 4. What remote options are available? Basically, I know just a little about this, but would love to do it. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

1) If you have 2 cable boxes. Or you can use one cable box with two tuner cards and you will be able to record two programs at once as long as at least one of them is on an anolog channel.
2) You can skip forward but there is no automatic commercial detection or skipping. 3) Sure. 4) The retail hauppauge tuner cards come with remotes or you can use just about any ir remote with a usbuirt or you can use an ATI Remote Wonder (or compatible) or any remote that works with girder. t Last edited by ErsatzTom; 01-25-2004 at 09:08 PM. |

OK, so let me list what I think I need to build my own Tivo.
Generic case, mobo, memory, decent sized hard drive (60G min, 200G preferred). I need a card to capture incoming television. This is what the Haupage card is for, and the 250 is good enough. I need a video card with a TV out to watch TV. So what have I forgotten. I want to be able to control this all with a remote. Also, will I be able to start watching a show halfway through? THanks for the help. |

You might want a cpu. jk
If you are going to use a regular remote you will also need an ir receiver, such as the usb-uirt. If you need to use a cable box or other stb you will need either an ir transmitter (the usb-uirt is both a receiver and transmitter) or, if supported, you can use serial control. t |
